Ministry of the Environment Decree on the structures and fire safety of small chimneys

This decree concerns the design and construction of new small chimneys to be constructed for a building or for other structures, as well as repair and alteration work on or affecting these chimneys.

Repair and alteration work includes the construction of a new chimney for an existing building, the repair or coating of an existing chimney or smoke flue, the exchange or alteration of a fireplace, and the installation of a new smoke flue within an old chimney or within a flue that was in use for some other purpose.
