Act amending Act No 246/1992 on the protection of animals against cruelty, as amended
This draft amends the Act on the protection of animals against cruelty in order to prohibit the breeding and killing of animals in cases where the sole or primary purpose is to obtain fur. Hence, the draft prohibits, in particular, the operation of fur farms, which mostly mass-breed and kill foxes and minks solely for their fur, without utilising the meat for human consumption. Nevertheless, the act does not apply to the utilisation of fur as a by-product of meat production (breeding of rabbits, nutria, etc.).
